Documentary In-Home Newborn Session: Baby Everly

There’s something uniquely special about an in-home newborn session. It’s not just about the pictures—it’s about freezing in time the raw emotions, the coziness of a familiar space, and the love that fills the air. Recently, I had the honor of capturing one such moment for my sister Stephanie, her husband Marcus, and their precious newborn, Everly.

Stephanie and Marcus have built such a beautiful life together, and this session was extra meaningful because it took place in the home Marcus built with his own hands—a labor of love that now holds the newest member of their family. The house felt alive with joy as sunlight poured through the windows, highlighting soft pastel baby blankets, delicate little onesies, and a nursery lovingly prepared for Everly’s arrival.

Everly was a dream to photograph, her tiny fingers curling delicately as she slept soundly in her parents' arms. Stephanie, radiant and glowing, couldn’t stop looking at her daughter with that unmistakable mix of awe and unconditional love. Marcus, ever the proud dad, held her with such tenderness, his eyes full of pride.

One of my favorite moments of the session was when we included their two beloved dogs, Pepper and Sadie. These two fur babies are an integral part of their family, and their gentle, protective nature around Everly was heart-melting. We managed to capture a photo of all five of them—Stephanie and Marcus on the couch with Everly nestled between them, and Pepper and Sadie sitting loyally on either side. It was a perfect family portrait, capturing the harmony of their little pack.

This session was about more than just photographs—it was about storytelling. Marcus’s home, the dogs who have been part of their journey, and the joy Everly has brought all intertwined to create a beautiful narrative of love and new beginnings.

It’s in these intimate, everyday spaces where life’s most precious moments unfold.
