There’s something incredibly special about engagement sessions that take place somewhere meaningful; and Scott and Laura’s session was exactly that. Set in a wide-open field just outside of Cobden, this location held personal significance for Laura, who knew the landowners. It made the entire experience feel relaxed, intimate and uniquely theirs.
Surrounded by rolling farmland, tall grasses and endless sky, the setting offered a quiet kind of magic. The soft late-summer light wrapped around them as they walked hand-in-hand through the field, laughing, talking and simply being themselves. It was one of those evenings where everything felt easy.
Scott and Laura have a calm, grounded energy about them and it showed in every frame. Whether they were sharing quiet glances, walking side by side or laughing mid-step, their session felt natural and unposed. That’s always my goal: to document couples in a way that feels true to who they are, rather than forcing stiff or overly styled moments.
One of my favourite parts of this engagement session was how the landscape became part of their story. The open field, the distant tree lines and the warm glow of golden hour created the perfect backdrop for something simple yet deeply romantic. There’s a peacefulness to rural Ontario that can’t be replicated, and Cobden has a charm that makes sessions like this feel timeless.
Engagement sessions aren’t just about beautiful photos. They’re about slowing down, celebrating this season of life and getting comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day. Scott and Laura embraced the experience fully and it shows in every image. Their connection is effortless, genuine and full of warmth, the kind of love that makes documenting it feel like an honour.
If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels personal, meaningful and relaxed, choosing a location with emotional connection can make all the difference. Whether it’s a family farm, a favourite trail or a quiet field like Scott and Laura’s, these spaces become part of your story.
I can’t wait to document their wedding this summer, and If this session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be nothing short of beautiful.
